Artist Opportunity: Mercer Public Library Artist in Residence Program

In September 2023, the Mercer Public Library established the Artist in Residence program thanks to the sponsorship of the Friends of the Mercer Public Library. The Artist in Residence program was developed to promote artists in the Northwoods of all ages, skills, and types of 2D and 3D media. Since its inception, the Artist in Residence program has seen multiple painters, including oil and watercolor, photographers, a sculptor, a dot artist, and an illustrator.

Library patrons, visitors, and attendees are able to enjoy exhibits displayed for three months, allowing for multiple visits to enjoy an Artist’s work; participate in art and creative programming for adults and kids; and connect with our local artists and creative community.

Artists are able to develop and strengthen skills necessary for professional growth. Artists complete an application including written biography and artist statement; practice teaching skills and develop workshops; and learn to network and share their stories at receptions.
